LGBTQIA+ Therapy
Therapy for individuals, relationships, and families in Texas seeking greater authenticity, better relationships, healing, and self-growth
Many queer individuals seeking therapy struggle with not being understood, having to educate their therapists, or even being pathologized concerning their unique identities around gender and sexuality. Each of the therapists in our practice identifies as queer themselves as well as being uniquely specialized and experienced in working with queer individuals and relationships. Whether you are seeking therapy regarding specific concerns with identity or simply wanting to connect to a therapist who understands and can relate to your lived experience, you will find a safe space here.
The same reason anyone else would!
Queer people come to us with the same kind of hopes, dreams, struggles, and difficulties as any other human. We treat queer folks with ADHD, Autism, depression, anxiety, Bipolar disorder, trauma, PTSD, relationship issues, dissociation, substance use issues, and whatever else you would want to work on in therapy.
Shared sense of community
Queer culture and relationships have unique language, dynamics, and experiences outside of cis-heteronormative mainstream culture. Clients often come to us to seek out therapists who are also part of this culture and understand these nuances without having to explain themselves.
Family of origin issues & attachment trauma
Oftentimes queer individuals deal with judgment, rejection, or pressure to conform from their families and communities. These kinds of experiences leave lasting scars and shape the way queer individuals are able to find safety, create and maintain healthy boundaries, and learn to trust themselves and others.
Identity Exploration
Discovering your own unique relationship and understanding of your gender or sexuality is a delicate and beautiful process. The external pressures to fit in in a cis-heteronormative society affect everyone in different ways and can make it hard to really see and understand yourself. Therapy can help in exploring what being queer means to you as well as learning what authentic self expression and communication looks and feels like.
Relationship work
Relational work is one of our top specialties, and queer individuals and relationships of all structures and configurations come to us to work on building stronger healthier relationships, work through conflict, and communicate better.
Religious trauma
Queer individuals born and raised within religions, high control groups, or cults have unique challenges to work through. Queerness is often marginalized or outright rejected in these groups, creating deep issues around guilt, shame, and identity. Oftentimes these groups are governed with strict rules guided by fear and control, making it difficult for individuals who leave to trust themselves or to form their own authentic identity.
